quiet moments

I have a little 4 (almost 5) year old home sick with me. We made crayon cakes with her old crayons that have been sitting around for years. They were a bit hit, except for her hurting herself cutting the crayons (see the bandaid).

These little cakes are great for making big messy fun drawings. I think we need to be making more things like this. I’m trying to teach her not everything has to be perfect. She can be really hard on herself sometimes. I wonder where she gets that from?

please tell me more about the crayon cakes, how long do you bake them? such a great idea? it looks like the colours all bleed together to make one new colour, is that right or is it kind of swirly?

    hi tara,

they weren’t long in the oven. you can smell when they are ready, that waxy smell. i think i put the heat to 250 or 300 maybe. also, you will want to line the muffin tin with paper liners.

they melt together really nicely, but when you use them they change colours. super pretty and fun. i highly recommend it!

Yes, I wonder where she gets that from, indeed…
