I’m very much enjoying doing fabric pieces these days. This one just got started. I was very happy to find that lovely round frame at a thrift store last week.
Month: November 2010
feeling festive
I think this may be the earliest we’ve ever had a tree up. I couldn’t hold her back any longer. Sosi decorated the entire tree by herself this year. I found her and Ila later that evening lying on the floor together looking up at it in the dark. Ila looked over and smiled and said “beauuuful!!”. Yes, beautiful indeed.
shooting from the hip
This week at the Small Fancy we both took a picture “from the hip”. I had a hard time choosing… this is the that one didn’t make it.
ila’s mini albums
While there’s no doubt Sosi likes the little mini albums I made her last year, I’d have to say Ila LOVES them. She sits and looks at these photo albums (that have no pictures of her) over and over. It’s a little sad really. So I decided for her upcoming birthday (!), I’d make her some of her very own.
I decided to give them to her early (maybe because she was sitting beside me as made them). As I explained what they were and that they were full of pictures of her, she just smiled so big and started hugging them. I can’t think of a better reaction to anything I’ve made.
socks of kindness
While browsing the many sock patterns on Ravelry, the socks of kindness jumped out at me. It seemed such a great name for a sock pattern. Sadly, I think I ‘m going to have have to rename mine “socks of forgiveness”, because they have so many mistakes. Luckily the friend they are going to is full of both kindness and forgiveness, I’m sure she’ll overlook my blunders and love them. (This is what they are supposed to look like)
I ‘d planned on making socks for everyone for Christmas this year, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I can’t wait to have these finished (I’ve been knitting them f o r e v e r) and return to something less difficult and more suited to knitting while watching a movie or an episode of Mad Men.
chirp work
My December sample copies of Chirp arrived today. They asked me to do an extra illustration for this issue. So fun! Sosi will be happy when she gets home. She goes through these magazines like crazy, carrying them all around with her for days after they arrive.

this weekend
I helped Donnalee hang the pieces for the Out of Purgatory Auction on Wednesday. It was a lot of fun. I was so happy to see my piece again, I’m seriosuly thinking of buying it back. It feels like it should be with me.
The auction is going on until Saturday night. Stop by the Guild between 12:00 and 5:00 to make a bid. There is a little final bidding party on Saturday from 7:00-9:00. Hope to see you there.
The Small Fancy this week is pretty fun, the theme is “Stuff Vancouverties/Charlottetownians like“.
Have a great weekend.
library days
Our house is beginning to feel a little small for us, but I can’t imagine moving. We live impossibly close to the main library, which to me, is pretty much a dream come true. I think if we had a bigger living space we’d still all be cuddled together in one room anyway, so what’s the point?
During one of our recent visits I noticed this amazing french magazine and quickly scooped up all the copies. Sosi is in French immersion so we are trying to find fun French things for her, and this is a huge hit. Such great illustrations and colouring pages, but my personal favourite is the Oukilé family search spread in each magazine (very TinTin-esque). A quick google search found books! I think these will most definitely be on our Christmas wish lists.

also on my desk right now… and no matter how I try to organize it, it always ends up looking like this…
This Saturday evening at The Guild there will be a Silent auction of the Out of Purgatory pieces. It will run from 7:00-9:00.
lego misusage
Hey, at least it’s not in her mouth…
At Small Fancy this week we did a simutaneous photo. Looks like Mia was standing beside Elvis Costello at 11:30.
Just saw that Heidi from My Paper Crane‘s book is now available. Looks like lots of fun.
Happy weekend!
remembrance day
puddle jumping
Much fun to be had with Instagram… I’ve given myself the challenge of blogging more often. Wish me luck!
rainy day sweetheart
It’s feeling very Vancouver-y here in Charlottetown these days. Lots of rain…
I’ve been working on some fabric pieces to send off to that lovely city. This one is going to be heading to the Cross.
Also, if you are Vancouver, don’t forget to check out the Jupiter Project’s T-shirt show at Tees.
