More recent work

I just finished these little portraits for the super sweet Tamara, who is even more adorable and lovely in person than she is on T.V.

So excited about the Jupiter Project’s upcoming t-shirt show. Sneak Preview can be viewed here. I want one of these for both Ila and Sosi.

Our theme over at Small Fancy is “Halloween Freaks“. Happy Halloween!

This is my latest commission. It’s being donated to a local women’s shelter here in Charlottetown, and will be hung in its new playroom.

This week’s Small Fancy theme is “Garfield“.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend  to all you Canadians! 🙂

distractions…

I’m missing Sosi like crazy. I feel silly for being so sad,  as she’s been going to preschool for over 2 years. Something about this feels different, like I just put her on a path that’s going to just take her farther and farther away from me each year, and there’s no turning back.

I keep thinking about the movie Ponyo, how her dad squished her inbetween his hands and magically turned her back into a fish when she was changing herself into a girl. I wish I could squeeze her and turn her back into my little baby. She’s so eager to grow up.

I’ve been distracting myself with work. So happy to be part of an upcoming show with the Jupiter Project. Here’s a sneak peek.

a night out…

I had a great night out last night at the Opening for the Out of Purgatory Show at the Confederation Centre. The show runs until October 4th. If you are in Charlottetown you should go and check it out, there are so many great pieces. I was beyond happy to see my piece was chosen to represent the show in the Centre’s Fall brochure. (wow!)

My barn paintings have been selling over at the lovely Cottage Industry shop here in Charlottetown. This  makes me so happy… mostly because I got to paint more barns! We dropped these happy little ones off today.

My piece for the Out of Purgatory show is almost finished… I think I might be a little heartbroken when it’s all done. I’ve loved every minute of working on it. Here are a couple of little peeks for you.  Happy weekend!

*The yarn I’m knitting with is the “samoyed” yarn from Belfast Mini Mills. Last time I was there they told me there is a lady in the states who has a ton of these dogs, brushes them and sends them the hair. They make all their yarn there. I will do a post about them soon. It is maybe of of my favourite places to visit here in P.E.I. *

why haven’t i ever done this before?

purg01

I ‘ve been working away on my piece for the upcoming Out Of Purgatory Show here in Charlottetown. Every artist particpating in the show has submitted a piece of artwork that they were not able to finish. The pieces were then  swapped, and you get to finish someone else’s art. Terrifying… but so much fun.

I received mine a few months ago and it has been sitting here just staring at me. After lots of failed attempts, I decided to knit something. Why have I never done this before?  Knitting + art= pure happiness.

Nancy’s store

My barn paintings have left me for a better home. They are now living in my sister in law’s super gorgeous new store, Cottage Industry. I think they look great (I might even say perfect) there. She’s located on Grafton at the corner of Queen if you want to pop by for a visit. 🙂

I just finished this custom fabric piece for the Canadian singing duo Bobs and Lolo. They are pretty adorable, if you have kids you should check them out. They have a lovely message.

camping…

sfcamp

This week’s theme over at the Small Fancy is “Camping”. I had fun with this one. I miss my camping days. They ended when I met my husband. He generally does not enjoy the outdoors… bugs.. getting dirty. Not the makings of a good camper. He makes up for it by being awesome in many other ways.

Happy long weekend!
